Even though there are many good fielders in the world, we cud only consider the as Jonty of their team. He does the one man show for - best fileder in the history of this game. I will be happy if this video poster, posts more jonty vids. I could hardly find the Jonty effects over the internet. Thanks to 'Lucky143'. Plz post more Jonty vids.

Cricketers and critics can say what they like, Jonty Rhodes was and still is, the best fielder in world cricket. Jonty took diving catches regularly. And they were spectacular. Collingwood, Ponting... all tried to be better but at the end of the day they were all compared to Jonty. He hit the stumps more often than any other fielder. 90% of his catches stuck. I admire him greatly and wish he didn't retire as early as he did...

Best outfielder ever and best wicket keeper ever both had the last name "Rhodes" (Jonty and Wilfred) so obviously if your last name is Rhodes you will be a good fielder (as wicket keeping is just fielding) ;)

I totally agree...I was in India when Rhodes used to play and the best fielder in any group of boys was always given the title of "Jonty"!
He set the standards and thats why we see so many players in cricket today that have been emulating him since childhood. I remember a sign in the crowd during one of the SA matches that said " 3/4th of the world is covered with water...the rest is covered by RHODES!" :)

That's a good sign! Ever since I started playing cricket here in South Africa, I've wanted to field like Jonty Rhodes! He's a huge legend here in South Africa. In a poll of the greatest 100 South Africans ever, he placed 33, second highest athlete on the list behind Hansie Cronje.

There was actually quite an uproar over that actually; he made it higher than a few Nobel laureates! Still, it was a vote by the people, and really, he was very popular. A poor colored man captaining in a sport many thought was only for rich whites. He broke the nation's heart when it was revealed he was a cheat, but many people choose to forget that and remember his more positive side.

rhodes is by far the best fielder ive seen. coming from zims i used to want to play like rhodes in the field, and thats how i base my fielding now. i agree with you on how people 4get what cronje did on the field. apart from that sad story, some of the things he did for cricket in sa, were fantastic.

Indeed, I remember when Cronje was found out, many people were just turned off of cricket in this country. Thankfully, it was not a long term state of affairs; just a few days ago, a black man played one of the great innings in South African history to defeat the Aussies, one of the few reasons why the series win has been greeted with much joy here!
